Sempra LNG media statement on Mexico property issue

In response to a press release sent by Gateway Media Partners today on behalf of Ramon Eugenio Sanchez Ritchie, Sempra LNG, a subsidiary of Sempra Energy, issued the following response from Darcel L. Hulse, president and chief executive officer of Sempra LNG:

“Ramon Eugenio Sanchez Ritchie has engaged in a long running campaign, financed by others, to discredit Sempra.  He and his financial backers have stepped up their media attacks and are attempting to misuse the judicial, political and regulatory processes of Mexico with the ultimate goal of extracting money from the company.

“Claims made in a press release issued today alleging that a property dispute impacts the operation of our liquefied natural gas (LNG) terminal near Ensenada, Mexico, are absolutely false.

“The land in dispute was purchased long after permits for our LNG receipt terminal were obtained, and is not required in any way for the ongoing operation of the terminal.

“Regardless of the final resolution of the land dispute, it will have no effect on our authority or ability to operate the LNG terminal.”
