        SAN DIEGO, Sept. 21, 2010 – – Sempra Energy (NYSE: SRE) announced today the company has initiated a $500 million share-repurchase program through JPMorgan Chase Bank.
 
        Common shares will be repurchased in the open market under an accelerated program (subject to a minimum and maximum number of shares) at a fixed discount to market averages over a period expected to extend into the first quarter 2011.
