MOBILE, Ala., April 7, 2009 – Mobile Gas today announced a rate decrease effective April 1.  The decrease will lower the average residential natural gas customer’s monthly bill 3 percent or approximately $2.25, assuming normal weather.  

        The decrease is the result of a reduction in natural gas costs.  Mobile Gas recovers the cost of natural gas supplies by passing these costs through to customers without a markup.   

        Mobile Gas is a natural gas utility serving approximately 95,000 residential, commercial, and industrial customers in Mobile and the surrounding areas of southwest Alabama.  The utility is a unit of Sempra Energy’s Sempra Pipelines & Storage business unit.  Sempra Energy (NYSE: SRE) is a Fortune 500 energy services holding company based in San Diego.
