LOS ANGELES, Feb. 25, 2017—Southern California Gas Co. (SoCalGas) asks all customers in the City of Kingsburg, CA and surrounding communities to reduce their natural gas use until further notice.

Yesterday evening a third party damaged a 10-inch high pressure natural gas line near 11301 East Conejo Avenue in Kingsburg, CA, resulting in a leak in the line.

SoCalGas crews remained on scene working overnight. The area is safe. There were no injuries. No structures were impacted. Motorists should anticipate road closures near the site of the damaged line.

The damaged pipeline serves residential and commercial customers in Kingsburg, Reedley, Parlier, Ivanhoe, Sultana, Cutler, Orosi, Orange Cove, Woodlake, and Dinuba.

Overnight crews made significant progress to construct a bypass around the damaged section of pipeline. Excavation work continues and equipment has been mobilized. Repair work is expected to continue throughout the day today. The timeline to complete the work has not yet been determined.

Based on preliminary information, SoCalGas believes the pipeline was damaged by a large farm tractor.

There are no residential or other commercial customer outages at this time.

SoCalGas urges all customers in areas served by the pipeline to reduce their natural gas use by:
  • Lowering their thermostats to 68 degrees or below,
  • Waiting a day to use natural gas appliances, and 
  • Washing clothes in cold water when possible.

Additional updates will follow. This conservation advisory is in effect until further notice.
