SoCalGas Honors Top "Trade Pros" for Helping Business Customers Save Energy and Money
Top vendors helped record number of businesses achieve significant energy savings

LOS ANGELES, Sept. 21, 2016 – Southern California Gas Co. (SoCalGas) recently honored three of its vendors for helping businesses save $608,429 in energy costs at its second annual “Trade Pro” mixer. Together, the honorees – Adwest Technologies, Inc., Knorr Systems, Inc. and OMNI Solutions, LLC – helped various businesses within SoCalGas’ service territory save 1.5 million therms – enough natural gas for 3,550 homes. Trade Pro vendors assist business owners in making energy-efficient upgrades such as the installation of new, more efficient equipment.

“All of our Trade Pro vendors help our business customers save energy and money by assisting business owners with their specific energy projects, but these three companies went above and beyond by providing extraordinary service to business owners,” said SoCalGas Vice President of Customer Solutions and Communications Lisa Alexander. “By providing our commercial and industrial customers with information about new rebates and incentives, these three companies helped business owners learn more about energy efficiency and that benefits all of us because energy efficiency promotes healthier, sustainable communities.”

The three vendors were honored because of their achievements while in SoCalGas’ Trade Professional (“Trade Pro”) Program, which provides business and industrial customers a range of services that assist them with energy-saving upgrades. Trade Professionals – or “Trade Pros” – sell, service or install products such as boilers, pipe/tank insulations, water heaters, steam traps, pool heaters and other natural gas equipment.

“It is an honor to receive this recognition from SoCalGas for our successful implementations at post-acute facilities affiliated with the Rockport Healthcare umbrella and others in the region,” said Andy Feldman, senior vice president of sales at OMNI Solutions. “We recently entered into a sustainability partnership with TwinMed and are committed to making a positive environmental impact by reducing consumption of utilities and water for greater Los Angeles healthcare and hospitality businesses.”

This year’s honorees were recognized for their important energy-saving contributions:

  • An Anaheim-based manufacturer of energy-efficient thermal oxidizers for air pollution control, Adwest Technologies helped customers save $323,748 through energy-saving upgrades. Adwest assisted businesses by helping them save 1.2 million therms – the highest number of therms saved by one vendor.
  • A distributor of energy-efficient aquatic products and services, Santa Ana-based Knorr Systems turned in 27 commercial rebates in one year for its energy-efficient pool covers – a remarkably high number of rebates ensuring other customers save energy and $159,296.
  • Wisconsin-based OMNI Solutions offers a full line of environmentally safe and effective laundry and housekeeping chemical products. OMNI Solutions championed a new ozone measure this year through rebates that saved businesses a significant number of therms. OMNI also helped various customers receive a total of 24 rebates, which helped them save $125,385. OMNI was named the Trade Ally of the Year for its efforts – the first vendor given that distinction.

SoCalGas lists its approved vendors in its Trade Pro Directory so that other business owners can search for vendors that purchase or install efficient natural gas equipment.

To be listed in the Trade Pro Directory, a business needs to successfully submit either two rebates or complete a project that saved 10,000 therms of natural gas within one year. Manufacturing, food processing, hospitality, textiles and healthcare are among the industries represented in the Trade Pro Directory.

Since 1990 SoCalGas’ energy-efficiency programs have helped customers save more than 585 million therms – the equivalent of taking more than 655,000 cars off the road. The company offers its commercial and industrial customers numerous incentives and rebates to help them save energy and money.

The Trade Pro mixer took place on Sept. 15 at SoCalGas’ Energy Resource Center in the city of Downey, with 100 business owners and vendors attending. Vendors or business customers who want to know more about being listed in the directory, or how to obtain rebates, may visit socalgas.com and search “Trade Pro.”
